Programs for Entrepreneurs: From Idea to Profit
From ideation through to maturity, Planet Hatch offers specialized programs to guide you and your business from the word "Go". We recommend following our pathways through Ideation, Validation, Growth, and Maturity to ensure you get the most from our experienced mentors, robust programs, and in-house experts. Some programs require pre-requisites.
Based on the stages of business (below), we have outlined some of our signature program offerings.
Cafe Mentors (pre-requisite)
This program is a pre-requisite for most other Planet Hatch programs. Early-stage entrepreneurs register online to meet with a seasoned mentor from the Fredericton Startup Taskforce over a cup of coffee. Find out more or register online here.
Business Basics (pre-requisite)
Business Basics is an online course that provides basic knowledge to early-stage entrepreneurs looking to start their own business. The presentation covers a variety of topics, from how to find business opportunities to potential funding programs available. View the course here.
Idea Lab Monthly
Idea Lab takes place on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Planet Hatch. A small group (no more than 10 entrepreneurs) meets for a moderated idea-sharing session led by a successful entrepreneur using the lean canvas model. Business Model Canvas
This day-long workshop introduces early-stage entrepreneurs to the Business Model Canvas and the lean approach to business planning. The workshop guides you through strategic management chart describing your company’s value proposition, infrastructure, customers, and finances. PRE-REQUISITES: Cafe Mentors, Business Basics, Idea Lab.
A speed-dating style event where entrepreneurs meet with various business experts to gain critical and valuable advice on how to get their business off the ground and how to perfect their lean business plan.
Entrepreneur in Residence
A Lunch and Learn series where experienced entrepreneurs share the story of their entrepreneurial journey. These sessions take place monthly and are moderated by Planet Hatch staff.
Office Hours takes place on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Experts from the financial, legal, accounting, marketing, and intellectual property fields visit Planet Hatch to meet with entrepreneurs who pre-register for 30 minute, one-on-one sessions. Pre-book your session here.
Crash Course Bootcamp
This 3-day, intensive bootcamp helps founders and their teams take their business to the next level. Crash Course helps you increase traction, provides access to a network of mentors and advisors, and introduces Startup Lean’s basic structure.
This full day program, offered in conjunction with the PDC, helps entrepreneurs increase their knowledge about choosing business structures, intellectual property, online marketing, building business relationships, crowdfunding, team dynamics, HR management, and sales.
SEED or Impact Loan
The Impact Loan program offers up to $20,000 in low interest financing for business startups owned by entrepreneurs over the age of 18. Young entrepreneurs aged 18-34 can use funds as a business growth loan.
Export Ignitor is offered every January, in conjunction with the start of second semester at UNB. The 12 week cohort accelerator program teaches companies to navigate the complex landscape of international business with comprehensive programming, services, mentor ships, and resources.
ARTrepreneur in Residence
Artrepreneur-in-Residence program was created by Ignite Fredericton and Planet Hatch in 2016 as part of their Culture Connect initiative. This 3 month program offers entrepreneurial support to members in the arts sector, accepting anyone from weavers to writers.
Meet once per month from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with like-minded entrepreneurs, seasoned business owners, and other key industry people. Each Startup Drinks event is sponsored by a business owner, who is invited to promote their business, display prototypes, products and other marketing materials.
Start-Up VISA (SUV)
Start-up Visa is a special immigration program for immigrant entrepreneurs looking to launch their business in Canada while gaining permanent residency.
Catalyst in Training
This workshop introduces participants to the framework and skills of Simplexity, a system of applied creativity invented by Dr. Min Basadur. Participants learn their preferred problem solving style and learn how to harness that knowledge to produce more innovative results.
Go Forth Institute
The GoForth Institute is Canada’s leading online entrepreneurship training program to help small business owners “learn what they don’t know” about running a small business. GoForth’s 100 Essential Small Business Skills™ Program is designed for busy, passionate entrepreneurs just like you.
